THE THRESHING FLOOR

BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 3:8-12

“His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His Threshing Floor, and gather His wheat into the barn: but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” – Matthew 3:12

The husks must be removed before the wheat or any other grains can be useful and consumable. Sin is like husks covering the grains, holding many great destinies in hostage, damaging the lives of many that could have served their Creator in the most acceptable way to become useful to their generations. Husks must be removed before ‘A HEART’ will be acceptable to God as living sacrifice that can fulfil DESTINY in life. Romans 12:1-2

The winnowing fork must separate the grains and or wheat from the husks at the Threshing floor. The heart of man is like the threshing floor where husks of sin must be removed through a winnowing method. There must be a separation, a regeneration through the TRANSFORMATIVE word of God. So that the GRAINS can be harvested into the barn – the FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT that will be pleasing to God eternally.

The removal of the husks by any winnowing methods is not an easy task for the operator and the winnowing machines. Moreover, if the Threshing floor and the wheat can also express themselves they will complain of the rigor and or pain been experienced through the winnowing exercise.  But the joy of the operator and the farmer is in the usefulness, the consumption and the profit made from the grains at the end.  There is JOY over a genuinely repented –soul not only in heaven but the church of God on earth and most especially Soulwinners and the Teachers. Luke 15:7-10

THE THRESHING FLOOR – THE HEART OF MAN

The heart of man is a place of confusion if not regenerated. The devil controls, influences and or manipulates the hearts of people to do all that is not godly.  It is a place where one gets choked out by the husks of lust of the flesh, tares of lust of the eyes, and chaff of pride. Ephesians 2:1-3,  Romans 7: 15- 25, 1 John 2:15-17.

The Un-regenerated HEART OF MAN

  1. Desperately Wicked: Jeremiah 17:9
  2. The fountain of all sins: Mark 7:20-23
  3. Evil conscience: Titus 1:15, 1Timothy 4:1-2
  4. A Reprobate mind: Romans 1: 21-32
  5. A Stony, Stubborn, incorrigible, unrepentant and disobedient heart:  Ezekiel 36:26
  6. Plagued by The works of the flesh Galatians 5:19-21

The Regenerated Heart of man shows a heart that has been saved from sin and every wiles of devil. It has been washed through the blood of Jesus Christ from every guilt of sin. It has been set free from satanic power that binds it with sin.  John 8:36, 1John 3:8

The regenerated heart of man is like the ‘threshing floor’ that has been cleansed therefore it shows THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS and glows in PURITY. It produces the right fruits that are ready for God’s barn. Matthew 3:12

  1. Repentance – The cleaning starts from a genuine repentance from sins, a heartily confession of Christ as the Lord and Savior. A contrite heart of strong determination to forsake sins totally. Romans 10:9, Psalm 51:17.
  2. Sanctification – Healthy relationship with God that produces godliness. Consecration through daily fellowship with God in prayer and meditation in the word of God to deepen our relationship with Him. Sanctification produces heaven – bound believers. Luke 18:1, 1Peter 2:2-5.
  3. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit – The Fruit of Holy Spirit and His Gifts – Galatians 5:22-23, 1Corinthians 12
  4. Putting on the whole ARMOR of God as stated in Ephesians 6:10-18
  5. A Non Compromised Christian living. Romans 12:2
  6. Soul winning whether convenient or not and other services that are profitable for the kingdom of God. 2Timothy 4:2

THE WINNOWING FORK – TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF THE WORD OF GOD

2Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 12:9-13

A two Edged Sword:  Hebrews 4:12, Ephesians 6:17, Romans 15:4.

The word of God does to the heart what a sword does to give any object the right shape. The truth of the word of God will do the cutting, the trimming and the pruning where necessary to shape Christians to be godly fitting for heaven. The cutting and the trimming might be painful and unbearable experience/s but it produces a full statured Christians.

A Refining Fire:  Malachi 3:2-3, 1Peter 1:7, Jeremiah 5:14; 23:29

The word of God like a Refiner’s fire removes the dross of all ungodliness, burns the husks of unrighteousness and bring out of a believer a glowing sanctified life.  A believer however must patiently endure the process.

A Bleaching Soap – Malachi 3:2-3, Ephesians 5:26-27, 2Timothy 2:20-21, Hebrews 10:22

The word of GOD as bleaching soap cleanses a believer from all stains of sin, wrinkles of iniquities and blemishes from transgressions. The bleaching Soap makes a believer presentable to God as holy and living sacrifice acceptable to HIM for His service.  Therefore, believers must allow the word of God to cleanse them so as to have clean hearts to worship God, clean hands to work for Him, clean feet to walk before Him and clean lips to speak for Him [Psalm 51:10; 24:4; 119:9, Isaiah 6:5]. It is noble work so it requires honorable vessels.

A Threshing Sledge Hammer – Jeremiah 23:29, Proverbs 29:15

The word of God is powerful to break in pieces the stony and rocky hearts of sinners, demolishing the strongholds of works of the flesh, crushing all hypocritical and sanctimonious display of worship. The word of God also remolds believers to become an edifice of Righteousness if believers surrender fully to the Holy Spirit.

The Lamp: Psalm 119:105, 130, Proverbs 6:23, 2Peter 1:19

Examine yourself this morning!

  1. Have you allowed the word of God by the power of the holy Spirit to break and remold you?
  2. Have you been refined and the dross of sin removed from you totally?
  3. Have you been to the launderer house to bleach off the stains from transgressions by the power in the blood of Christ.
  4. Has the sword do the cutting and trimming by the word of God?
  5. Have you allowed HIS WINNOWING FORK to do his perfect work in your life?
  6. When last did you read and meditate in the word of God?
  7. Are you regular in the Bible Study and Sunday School?
  8. Are you practicing the word of God?
  9. DO YOU HAVE A FULL BIBLE?

Conclusion

There must be individual’s determination to allow the WORD OF GOD to winnow their hearts to part with sins finally. We must allow the unadulterated word of God to bring out the beauty of Holiness both inwardly and outwardly without which no man shall see God.  Hebrews 12: 13-17.

 ALLOW THE WORD OF GOD always to WINNOW YOU.

Prayer

Lord God I pray meet me on the threshing floor.  Through the process of refinement, reveal in me that which HONORS You in Jesus’ name.
